I don't even own the 35L and I would have to give it my vote... I'm going to miss the tog I was shooting with all year when his 35L and him move to Boston...
I was actually contemplating going with the 5D (OG) and the 35L for next season instead of the 5d2 and my current glass lineup.... maybe my wife will get me one for christmas (lol)

Good luck mate.
I am kind of wishing the same.... I guess it kind of helps that my bday is 5 days before Xmas?

The worst part is that I just blew my savings on a macbook pro as my PC crashed (hard drive failure), so now I am starting from scratch (hey... that's better than financing eh?)
I could probably be happy with the 35L and my 40D for the beginning of next years season....
I'll second the 200 1.8. Why oh why won't canon service it until the end of time?
And I still love my 24-70, even for all the bad press it gets. My first L glass that has stood the test of time. 35L does give better 'boker. But something about the 24-70 that I just find handy (on FF - on cropped frame it doesn't do nearly as much for me)
The Sigma 17-70mm DC Macro lives on my 30D. And, so far, the Sigma 24-70 EX DG Macro lives on my 5D Mark II...except for when I'm videoing, then it's mostly the Sigma 17-35 EX DG HSM.
