Went on a group hike with a local photography forum. We headed to Orangville Ontario and surrounding area waterfalls and look out points.. Heres my favourite of the bunch I took ... CC please
First comment is that the photo is very dark and depressing. I think a curves/levels adjustment is much needed here, or perhaps even a BW conversion to take advantage of the textures/contrasts. I kind of like the composition, but I'm not sure what is supposed to be the focal point, the dead log or the waterfall. You've done a great job with the shutter speed and smoothing out the water, but the very bright short log in the foreground is distracting. I think overall, if you could reposition yourself so as to eliminate the dead logs altogether, and capture more of the water as it goes downstream, this would be a stronger photograph.
I was trying to give a perseption isolating forground and mid ground and background... I gave it the darker look to add to the mood.. It was cold that day in the middle of the forest.
Give that dust spec in the back waterfall a little love.... I like the image. Great composition. Nice use of the foreground detail to give presence to the scene that unfolds.

A bit dark and somber, but it does accurately capture the day's mood so that's fine.
Smoothing of the water is great.
Sharpness, detail is excellent.
Foreground log is very powerful in drawing in the eye. I think Jo was right to suggest darkening it. Not sure if you had other shooting angles as options. I like the larger logs angling down into the water. They provide some leading lines and add to the natural-ness of the scene.
