Sorry, typo. It's a 90 f/2.8. Specifically an SMC Pentax 67 90mm f/2.8. The camera itself is not a Pentax 6x7 but a Pentax 67 (basically same thing, newer version).
And my full m4/3 kit (not counting all the rokkors and Canon lenses I can adapt)...which weighs 3/4 lb less than my 1Ds II with 17-40L mounted. Crazy. http://www.jordansteele.com/forumlinks/m43kit.jpg
Hi John, what's that EL-Nikkor 63 like with distance shots? I have the same lens but use it exclusively on a bellows forward and reversed. It's one of the very best lenses for macro work that money can buy and it's easy on the wallet even at that.
Do you have any samples with it shooting landscapes and such?
I looked at all of the images in your folio but there was no EXIF attached and those while completely awesome, aren't really far focus images.

Well, I've had that lens for about 15 years but I've only just started to play with it away from an enlarger. I haven't done any long distance stuff with it, but I am hoping to. The only tests I've done with it so far are short range shots comparing it with an APO-Rodagon-N 80/4 and I was surprised that it might even be sharper than the APO, but at least in the same ball park. I need to do more testing to be sure. There are a couple of images here, posted about a week ago. Actually, some of the 'Is this fungus?' pics are from this lens and the APO-Rodagon-N. It's fine lens in my opinion.
I can't get infinity with it using a 16-30mm helicoid which is a bit of a bummer because that is how I'd like to use this lens. Shorter helicoids are very expensive so I'm not sure that I'll ever get to try one, but if I were a bit more cashed up then I'd certainly go down that path. It seems to have some funky bokeh which may work for some things, maybe not. It looks like the lens needs about 10mm flange clearance to reach infinity.

BTW, I really dig that style! Very cool!
Thanks!
Exif is something I don't even think about so I haven't actively removed it or anything like that. Most of the exterior car pics are with a Canon 24-70, the rest could be just about anything. I often pick a lens that I bring for the day (in addition to my normal Canon kit) and see what I can do with it. Some of the detail shots are with Mamiya 645 and Mirex TS adapter, I love that Mirex thing.
Before anyone asks, the black tape on the lettering is there to prevent it reflecting back into the image. It's rare, but under certain circumstances the lettering on the lens can reflect on the inside of the filter (if fitted) and appear in the image. It's not a problem that is unique to this lens.

I don't normally use filters but some times I have to use a polariser, these days. I was using this lens in the film days when you could not avoid using colour correcting filters such as 81B, C, D, EF, 85C etc. If you didn't use these filters then you would get extreme colour casts when shooting E6 film, particularly in shade or overcast.

This system was designed for distribution to educational facilities (school supply) back in the day here in Japan. Anyway I've been thinking (always dangerous!) about just using some masking tape, a painted cardboard tube and a body cap to mount it for infinity focusing. The reason being because it's so damn sharp for macro I thought it might be fun to see how it does for something like mountains, distant forests, and other. I've never gotten around to it yet tho. Maybe someday! If/when I do I'll certainly post them somewhere on this forum!
