p.1 #1 · London Lovelies

Some more shots from my freaking glorious time studying abroad in London. These are all street candids from the South Bank. I'll post a thread in the City/PJ forum with the non-people pics in a minute, and as always, plenty more on the blog.

C&C always welcome.

Enjoy!

All are awesome but I love #9.

BTW, just curious from reading the blog: Are you studying photography abroad, or studying abroad and photography is a hobby?

Nice stuff...good mix of telephoto and WA for street work. What kind of processing on these?

Thanks folks.

To answer Booone's questions, I'm studying photojournalism. I go to Biola University in SoCal, but this semester I'm studying abroad in London. So am I studying photography? Yes. Is it a hobby? Apparently so. Haha.

As for the processing, all of the photos are always run through Lightroom. I can honestly say that Lightroom is THE most prominent tool used in my photographs (besides my own eyes I guess).

I start by running one of several presets that I've created and then make adjustments on each photo from there. I probably spend less than a minute editing most of my more heavily processed photos. More like 20-30 seconds for photos like number 8. Preset, tweak, crop. Of course there are some I spend a little more time on, retouching and doing local adjustments and what not, but the majority of my photos are in and out in less than a minute. I shoot a lot, so being efficient is important to me, even if it's just for fun like the above set.

In regards to processing specifics, two things you can almost always count on it my photos are lots of contrast, and lots of clarity. Those sliders see a lot of play in Lightroom. I also tend to shoot on the upper end of the "proper exposure" spectrum, rather than some of the moody and broody darker photos that you see a lot recently. In my color shots, I'm a pretty big fan of warm white balance and lots of vivid colors. Psuedo-HDR shots and cross processed looking shots are also pretty common for me. Black and whites are relatively new to me, and I never really used it much until a couple weeks ago. For whatever reason, London just feels like a very black and white city.
