it wasnt a whinge, more of a whos got one and if they have heard any info?
ive had the 14-24 on the shelf since mid may, and now has several mm of dust on it
It's been written - the best adapter for a 14-24 is a D700.
I was looking to purchase the G-adapter about the same time - the website's June 10th update - too bad the money is taken the the communication can't be more professional.
I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a converted a Contax 17-35 N for several photo trips I had planned and avoided the risk of non-delivery. That lens performs a heck of a lot better than the website test shows - at least my copy does. It's a great lens if you can find one or there is the 17 / 24 TS-E's & the Zeiss 21mm.
Some time back I visited our local "pro" camera store and checked out the 14-24 on a Nikon body. There used to be a ton of chatter about the virtues of this lens and how cool the 16:9 adapter was. For a moment there I considered it. To be totally frank what put me off was all the reports of how long it took to get the adapter once you ordered it. I passed.
The other wide lens I lusted after was the 21 Distagon. But the confusion over the real value of the old lenses and the cloudy release dates of the new EF version kept me waiting in the wings. Then the budget went to other things.
I still want that new great wide lens though. I need to raise the funds but I am going to get the new 17 TS-E. I kind of suspect that with all the waffling about the various delays with Nikkor 14-24 adaptors and the Distagon that these options have lost ground to the new Canon TS-E lenses. Both the 17 and the new 24 look stellar. I wish I could afford both!
