I apologized to him on a private email, gave him props on Facebook.
I'm surprised he is bringing this up again. I really though that we were squared away about this incident. In his reply he was a true gentleman and took the high road which I appreciate and thank him for.
I can and will apologize again for the bad advice given to me by another photog but what's done is done; I apologized, learned my lesson and moved on.
Regards,
Miguel
Well Reason, I stand corrected. Miguel, like I said in PM, I didn't know you were on here. Wasn't trying to rehash anything with you as we're definitely cool now as far as I'm concerned.
I just got a PM from someone who asked not to be identified.
This is too funny... I was totally thinking of the shot posted above when I said "woman looking up and just the dude's feet hanging down" ... but unless this is a doctored up image from someone else ...
Ok, after seeing this I formally declare it officially fair game to shamelessly rip off poses. I dunno who shot theirs first, but if the Rockstarz can "flatter with imitation" then so can we!
btw... I have a crispy $20* right here that says that nobody will say anything like this:
Imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Or is idea-stealing the highest form of douchebaggery? :-(
about my post above.
Well except for some really hungry dude/dudette looking to make a quick $20.
NOT Lisy
* Void where prohibited
twenty dollar offer not valid in AK, HI, NY, NIGERIA
to claim your twenty dollars please send shipping and handling charge of $20.45 to address provided to you in winner notification email.

This is why about a month ago I posted my thoughts on why it's not very smart to share images on this forum. You guys laughed at me.
As I said in that post all you do by posting your images here is train your competition.
I rather share business advice than my pictures.
Hahahahahaha
Kidding. I do wonder about sharing some images on blogs for that reason though. If its standard work that is well done sure but stuff that sets you apart should be in the studio or display albums. Then i guess you have to have something that hooks the client in the first place, a bit of a catch22

Actually, Sam asked my permission for that one. His couple couldn't kiss so he needed ideas. Ha!
I went to scout a beach location for an e-sesh about 3-4 days before the sesh only to log on here and see that Hoff posted an e-sesh from....you guessed it: The beach!
I'm sure some shots were similar be of the locations, but I definitely wouldn't go into any shoot with the mindset of copying anyone. I will say that the negative space that's being used more and more around here seems to be inspired by Hoffer, even if it's been done a gazillion times over the years. I'm pretty sure I gave Tony props for this one because it strikes me as being very Hoffer-esque.
First I'd like to say the level of photography here is incredible. I really enjoy the wit and banter as well. I don't post much because I don't shoot weddings and this is a wedding forum. So the comment about 5000 lurkers probably has a lot to do with that as well. Think about it. If we were not then we'd be your competition and even if we all were not as good you'd still loose income because some would choose based on price.
Do you guys really think that everything has not been done already? Image wise.
So ring shots on flowers, Dresses hanging in the window overexposed, trash the dress, etc. Off limits? You will all do these shots at your next wedding.
It seems that actual stolen image threads are less heated than these.
I'm pretty sure if I look hard enough I'll even find a logo similar to Hoffer's. I'm a big fan of Tony's work and don't shoot weddings but do shoot portraits and kids part-time. Probably everything has been shot.
Negative space has been a concept forever.
I believe that poaching clients on FB is not good business and will bite them in the end.
I hope that this is taken as intended... simply another point of view.
