It's as simple as it gets. There are some capacitors in the coupler battery, probably for keeping the voltage up when the body is pulling too much current over a short period time. The DIY pack I have seems to handle the current pretty well. The blue one is 12*1.2V energyON low discharge NiMH cells, some have issues with it, I haven't used it extensively so I can't comment. I have shot 3k shots on the LiFePO4 without recharging so far, the voltage remains at 13.2V. It's a simple 4S1P configuration, and a BMS to protect the pack from overcharging/discharging. The connector is Anderson powerpole 15A, the coil cable is an old Quantum flash cable. You can even use a similar configuration to build pack for Mark III bodies.
