^ I know. Most of my engineer friends don't seem like the creative type. Then again, they seem to be OK with their jobs, so maybe it's the creative ones who end up getting out.
I'm a student. Always loved shooting but didn't start thinking about a business till this year.
I am the operations manager for a waterpark I have 130 lifeguards and about 40 or so other staff underneath me, cant wait until the photo business picks up and I can not have another job. Working at a waterpark/theme park is not all fun and games.

Hey, another SA 'tog. Not many of us on here that I've noticed.
research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry and part time (week end warrior!) photographer !
Looking forward to see which job will stay in the future !
I was a hairdresser for a very long time. I left that to go into sales. Dealing with the public is what gave me the edge in getting the photography business up and running. I've been full time photographer for 6 years now, with a total of 7 years of shooting weddings.
I ran my own ad agency for 10 years in SF. Moved to the East Coast after 9/11. Worked as Creative Director for several firms before finally taking the plunge to be behind the camera full time instead of art directing other photogs.
