This was my first more serious attempt to do pijuns (or anything) in flight using the Canon's EF 15mm f/2.8 Fish Eye on 1D MkIIN.
Although now I think I know what I need to change (improve) the next time around, I am afraid the lens doesn't hold much promise for BIF photography.
I shall try again to do Mallard ducks this fall. Being bigger, slower on takeoff and better AF targets, the results there could be better.
At any rate, as a curiosity, and for your entertainment, here are three PIF shots with 15 FE.
Well, it certainly creates an interesting perspective. I imagine that getting close enough would be a real challenge. Might I just suggest covering your entire body with birdseed before trying to shoot PIF with a 15mm fisheye. Oh, and if you do you may want to carry an umbrella.
Not only are you a non-conformist (and I say that in the nicest possible way ), but you are a true experimentalist. You should note that I see that as a good thing.

Thanx for your kind input, Dave. A few years back I started doing BIF like what bird photographers do....using 300mm-500mm lenses etc. Then, got bored with that and started to put some of my less used lenses to a bit more challenging tasks, on fast flying birds which are plentiful enough......in summer, pijuns and terns are perfect for that in my area. Lottsa fun.
Well, they had to be cropped quite a bit, and images 2 & 3 do show a fish-eye type of distortion.
Now, if I could get within a couple of inches of a flying pijun, then cropping would be reduced and IQ would be significantly better.
The only problem is how to take a picture at such proximity to a fast flying target.
A lexan wind tube with a bird flying in it would help. So would having a pijun fly against a bungee cord tied to his leg.

Again these don't look like the perspectives of FE unless they are heavily cropped.

Pigeons aren't strictly geometric objects, nor are our human eyes (except PetKal's) calibrated to _exactly_ tell what they should look like
To have pigeons fill the frames like shown here, that would mean he had to be inches away from the birds. If so, the birds would appear disproportion between say its head and wings (distortion is huge at this close distance). Try to take a self portrait and also fill the frame. You will look like a funny man. Also judging from the background, just doesn't look like ones from a FE.
I wonder why Mr. PetKal hasn't clarified that.
Sorry, PetKal, I was responding to Stanj and didn't see your comment you already posted. However, if you could post an uncropped image by FE, that would illustrate my point.

Peter you again demonstrate your prowess in BIF. May I request a tilt shift BIF? I want to see them prospectively corrected.
Paolo, that's on my list of things to try next. Unfortunately, I lost an auction on the TS-E 90mm a couple of weeks ago, so I don't have a TS lens yet.

Since disproving his shots are not stuffed Pigeons on a stick I have for some time suspected that Peter is in fact is a living statue hence his uncanny ability to BIF with really short FL.

Have you tried wearing a giant pigeon suit (or alternatively, a pijun suit)? You might wanna go to your local giant bird-suit outlet mall and try one.
