Placing the bird in the center tends to give it a static feel. For some images that works. I don't feel it is right for this one.

With the current image, crop some from the right side and a little from the top. The bird should be more of the image.

Vector 101,
AuntiPode echoes the usual advice. Place your subject off-center, perhaps at a third (rule of thirds?). For birds, most compose to have the bird looking into or flying into the frame. Which means more space to look or fly into.
The pose shows good eye contact, a plus in animal, bird and...human photography. I wish the body hadnt been rotated away. Image would be stronger if the body and head were both parallel to the frame, with eye contract like you have captured.

Colors are beautiful, background is nicely complementary in color. Hard to tell for sure on a smaller image, but looks like you did a nice job retaining detail in the whites.

2nd crop took from the left of the image. It would look better if instead you took from the right of the image.

I agree, you should have cropped off from the right leaving more scene in front of the bird.
