Vector 101,
AuntiPode echoes the usual advice. Place your subject off-center, perhaps at a third (rule of thirds?). For birds, most compose to have the bird looking into or flying into the frame. Which means more space to look or fly into.
The pose shows good eye contact, a plus in animal, bird and...human photography. I wish the body hadnt been rotated away. Image would be stronger if the body and head were both parallel to the frame, with eye contract like you have captured.
Colors are beautiful, background is nicely complementary in color. Hard to tell for sure on a smaller image, but looks like you did a nice job retaining detail in the whites.
