p.1 #1 · Canon FD 85/1.2 SSC Aspherical. Easy to take apart?

Has anyone experience of the Canon FD 85mm 1:1.2 SSC Aspherical? Is it a hard lens to take apart and put back together again? I would be looking to cleaning rather than repair.

I have plenty of experience shooting with it, as I have converted mine to EF mount, but I would never attempt to take it apart completely and clean it. In fact, your question is a bit of a coincidence because I have been considering trying to find an expert FD lens service/repair shop and have them clean my copy. It works great the way it is, but I suspect the amount of dust in it is reducing contrast in situations of contra light.

Generally all the dust particles are between front lens block and rear lens block in the aperture mechanism area. The worst case i have seen is Pentax 50 1.2 just every lens i see on ebay has dust between the lens elements. I have cleaned one, it is real pain in the a** how to get there and clean it.)
Fd 85 1.2L and ssc asph are similar in terms of disassembly - just remove rubber ring and unscrew aluminium focusing ring where this rubber ring seats on and there will be 3 screws that holds front element block and you are ready to clean the dust particles.

Although the aperture area is a favorite spot for dust, the inside surface of the rear stationary element is best know for collecting dust, in my opinion.

Although, the stock FD mount is one of the more complicated, it can be disassemblied for cleaning the rear element, but one must take care in doing so.

If you guys have all disassembled the lens that far, I've also removed the rectangular metal focus stopper piece and just leave 1 screw on so now my lens focuses down to 0.8m instead of 1m specified by canon. The helicoil accommodates that.
