Agree about 9a and I also find 9b quite nice, followed by #5.
The last shot may be the best "bus" shot. Some of the earlier bus shots seemed to have too much bus and also featured the crotch of his pants too much.
Throughout the series I found no smiles - 9a was as close as it came.
I like 3 and 7 the most - I'm not a big fan of the crotch view in 1 and the left half of 2. Would have been nice if you could have got a laugh or two out of him and captured a smile.
He also looks like just "one expression" in almost all shots.
It seems the bus was important for some reason, but I don't think it was important in my favorite image. In other words, the "set" or "prop" seemed to get lots of attention in several images.
My Simple Suggestion: Spend more time on getting a variety of expressions and less time on a variety of locations or poses.
Big fan of 1, 2, 3, 7, and 10. Although on number 2, I'm really not a fan of the partially desaturated look. I feel like it would be much stronger completely desaturated.

I'm not a pro, but I do make good money from my work. Last year, I did some senior shots with a girl who I thought looked 'better' with a more serious face. (not smiling) Her father was somewhat miffed about the fact and only liked the ones where she showed her teeth. Luckily for me, I took plenty of shots with and without smiles, but it was a first experience for me. Ever since then, I've learned to make sure to get a mix of everything.
As a photographer, it's not always about what you like.

That may be true ... but we seldom encounter people that only offer a single expression ... we all smile, frown, pout, laugh, and show far more than a singular view to others ... I do agree that some expressions should be avoided ... but, with a set with the number of images this one has ... it would be nice to explore more of the subject's overall personality ... just a thought.
I like the lighting, and posing in most ... very good job in that respect.

Agree with the crotch in 1 & 2 and the same expression throughout.
Other than those nits, I think they're very well done overall. He reminds me Elijah Wood.
