p.1 #1 · Publicity Shots for Aquarium Venue

Amy and I had never shot publicity or promotional items before, so we were excited when the Scripps Aquarium in La Jolla called and asked us to photograph a model bridal couple at their new venue, the Robert Paine Scripps Seaside Forum.
Initially, it was a little challenging since we're used to focusing on bride and groom-it was tough to back up a little and make sure to give focus to the space. However, in the end, I'm pretty pleased with what we came up with. Feel free to provide constructive criticism. How else can we get better? More on the blog.

#3 she looks kind of awkward. I think its just the face expression. Also that palm tree in the back is a little distracting. Maybe shop it out? This is because the picture is so focused on nice symmetry, that tree kills it. But nice exposure. Nice symmetry (except that tree), nice straight horizon line, cool background.

#1 again, this looks kind of awkward to me. Cool idea, but i think it would have worked better if it was bride alone.

#4 sweeet! i feel this is the money shot! You got everything you wanted here. Nice show of the entire venue and very romantic.

Thanks for the feedback guys-good notes on the symmetry. I thought about shopping out the palm tree and probably should have.

Did they have some input into the images?
I would have thought they would have gone for more wide shoots, to show case the large area/ intimate areas.
The only sense of space is in #3 and the first on your blog.
#4 doesn't really show how big the courtyard is (i thought they might have had the gardener in before hand to tidy up the roses) , and make the upstairs rooms look small.

I never saw the aquarium?? Or did I? Anywho. They look good. I like the anonymousness of one. Works better then the standing chopped heads shot IMO. As large as your watermark is. I still like it. Try it in white. I think it will be a bit more universal. Cheers.
