p.2 #1 · Wescott Softbox and Avenger stand question

I have the westcott 28" Apollo, but I find it kind of a PIA to use, but yes, it would work just fine with an Alien Bee setup.

I still have the Apollo, but recently purchased one of the folding softboxes from the alien bees website and really like using it. It's nice to be able to reach the controls without having to rip open the front of the softbox.

Big deal. Use what works for you, don't limit yourself by just following others. The Apollo is the wrong SB most of the time when using a mono or speedlite without full wireless power control. A brolly (at 1/3-1/4 the price) works better and offers similar light output.

i have to say i really like the brolly myself
light & easy to set up and enclosed back with the reflective interior a ton better then the umbrellas
Did I mention cheap

p.2 #3 · Wescott Softbox and Avenger stand question

I just placed my order on BH. I ordered a 28inch apollo kit with the 30 inch white/silver reflector and dvd. I don't really need another reflector, but it was 7 bucks more than the box alone and both have to be ordered so I went for this. I also ordered a new 60 inch umbrella, and an Avenger 630B. Prolly going to be a PITA to lug around compared to those interfits, but I'm hoping the build quality will be a lot better than the interfit. If it turns out to be that way, I can see all of the interfits being replaced with avengers in time.
