p.1 #1 · Water droplets - my first ever effort.

Would love some critique on these... very low tech, basic set up:

- Small, clear glass bowl full to the brim and sat on white surface.
- Harsh lighting from above (spot lights)
- White reflector backing (just used folded A4 paper)
- Tripod set to around 3 inches higher than the water and angled down at about 35-40 degrees.
- D60 with 18-55 kit lens (!)
- 1/60
- f.16
- on board flash
- Pippet

Looks like your focus is off.

Look at #2. The focus is on the waters surface when it should be on the drops.

I've never done that type of shot, but I'd also suggest drying off the outside of the glass bowl to avoid all the distracting water droplets on the outside of the bowl. I think I'd use a black bowl and a softer overhead light, or a softer light off to the side slightly and see how that came out as well.

I love #2. Water droplets are photographed like sunsets and puppies, and just having a very slightly different perspective and a very slightly different focal point is refreshing.
