Hello Stephanie, I don't think I have seen you over in this forum much so it is a nice visit from you and many thanks for the kind words and your selections. We need to get you posting pictures! Join us
Karl, these are really special. I think I will have to take the 400 out and do some florals with it. I cannot pick a favorite...they are all very nicely done.
hmmmm....... a Chad action........ I may need to get that soon

NoellA you will have fun with the 400 but take a tube if you have one I am sure you will have fun and find some beauty. The Chad action, hmmmm, well it's a guy thing but I have a feeling he would share it with you
Thanks for the visit and your pleasant words

Georgeous series Karl
2) I like the soft diagaonal comp here along with the colors too
5) detail and color are wondorful - can almost smell it throught the monitor
7 through 10 are all just plain wonderful to veiw. Lighting and texure are killer on these. I think 7 is my favorite for its sweet micro-contrast and background.
Morris- I thank you for the picks and the nice words Morris
Randy- Glad they caught your eye Randy, thanks for commenting.
JayT- Thanks buddy for telling me what you too see, very intersting because often I am not sure what draws me to a comp or floral shot, seem more instinctive but often without reason if that makes sense Many thanks on the PM too
Seems every now and then I dive into a floral outing
There was a time Karl I seem to remember when you only did flora here
But what a beautiful set of pics with the 500. Wonderful and vibrant colors, super comps and bg too. In the first one the back of the flower looks as good as many fronts. One would hardly know its the back the way the leaves are curling around the back there. Super comps on # 2 the way the flower level starts off at the right and fades downwards to the left. In # 4 its from L to R and thats a beautiful rose and comp too. Lilies are not easy but you did a great job on them. I like your choice of F number and I think I read that Chad uses 7.1 a lot and I am trying that out more myself. Speaking of Chad maybe you could fill me in on the Chad Action you refer to?
Cheers buddy,
Martin
1. Looks like you've clones something on the bottom left of screen. Very distracting.
If it's not due to cloning than ........... Well something is still distracting
2. Yellow stem of Far right is a bit odd
3. Pedals in the foreground ............ Ruines it for me
4. Strongest image of the post IMHO............ But it's to pink and feminine........... Reminds me of Chad
5. Flower on Bottom Right keeps pulling my eye off of the main subject. And the extra blossoms (Unblossomed blossoms) kind of ruin it for me
6. I like it but the angle of the flower and the yellow saturation leave me having a tough time finding the primary and main focal point. I hope that makes sense. But the center of the flora and stems look over saturated in yellows maybe? My eyes struggle when looking at the center of the flora..............
7. I like this one too. No real nitz but wonder if you could have taken a different angle to hide or give less focus to the extra stem on the top left?
8. Looks over sharpened to me. Darn thing almost looks like it's brittle and about to break
9. Nice but you cropped out one of the pedals ......... Hey is it OK to do that? That's like clipping a bird wing!!
10................. You clipped the wing again ................ Were they moving to fast for you? Darn flora moves pretty quick doesn't it buddy
OK these are nice images. But just my WHIT Nitz buddy!!
Probably the best and most critical critique of all the comments but I thought you might want at least one really good critique
All in all nice job but still some area for improvement.
Now please send a critique fee payable to Anthony Whitmore
Karl, this is such a beautiful series. The roses and the lilies all have an artistic free flowing feel to them if that makes sense. Beautiful work. And the first is mesmerizing. I keep going back to it and love the look.

Hi Karl,
These are real wonderful shots. The lighting is good w/ nice shadows and details. My top picks are 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The comps in 1, 2, and 3 don't work for me but I love everything else.
dan
David- Good to hear from you and thanks much for the praise. Take care and get healed up buddy
Martin- Thanks Martin, obviously I enjoy both the flowers and the birds, the birds take a great deal more of my time though. Thanks for telling it as you see it, I too liked #1. Check with 'Chad' on the action
Maggie- I am always smiling when I look at your avatar Thanks for your interpretive artistic view, I was hoping to hear from you on these. The roses were a bit of a comp challenge for me, glad you liked them Thanks on #1 being #1.
Lars- Thanks for the floral visit and the kind comment Lars, appreciate that buddy.
Tim- Glad you saw them this way Tim, thanks for the kind words.
DannO- Thanks for the picks Danno, at least they outnumbered the ones that didn't work Welcome back!
