p.1 #1 · First Wedding Post on FM

Let me start by saying that I'm not a wedding photographer (Senior portraits and sports, yes...but not weddings) mainly because I'm sick for days leading up to it. But, I know the bride well, did their engagement photos and she totally talked me into it.

Anyway, shot in near dark at the golf course with the MoH holding a 580exII camera right, just over the bride's shoulder. Thought I'd post for feedback on this, as I can use any CC for future portrait shots. I like it and she (especially her mother) loves it. From what the MoB said, the bride looks just like her grandmother from her wedding in 1947. Go figure!

Thank you for looking and for your comments!

It's a beautiful image though I can definitely see your senior photo influence in the manner and pose of the image.

Only thing I would really recommend is maybe having some sort of diffuser over the speedlight to soften the light a little bit.

Hope this helps,

Evan

in this case i actually like the hard light. it fits well with the portrait imo and no real detail is lost and no nasty looking shadows show. to each their own though.

nice shot!

Thank you for the comments. I appreciate the suggestion, Evan. I really debated on that. Ultimately, I wanted the harder shadow for the dramatic effect. Wasn't sure how it would come out and this was it! I normally shoot through a 20x20 softbox but didn't for this one.

Thank you RL15. That was my biggest concern...losing the detail or blowing out parts of the shot!

i love how the hair is detailed throughout the shot. it shows technical competency.
