Might as well jump into the water .. 2nd post here. This one isn't as harsh as the first. This is near Penns Landing, Philadellphia. The Museum sign in the background is for the Seaport Museum. Duplicated layer and color overlay - faded opacity to about 90 percent to have slight color come thru.
Of course critiques welcome.

I like this one as much as the other post. Now I've got to learn about Photoshop calculations. I really want this look.
Alan Young, who shows outstanding shots here on this forum, does a similar look, but not quite as extreme as this. I'll bet this would be awesome for some of the stuff I'm presently doing with my comic shots.
Keep 'em coming! These are a treat!

Really makes me long for Philly - my son and his family live downtown and last year when we visited we walked around in this area. Very good capture and interesting conversion.

Tim - actually I did not use calculations on this one. For this one, I applied a bit of 'hdr' to a single raw file (used PhotoMatix) - really seemed to pull out the shadows. Then, in Photoshop all I did was duplicate layer .... color overlay top layer and decrease opacity to about 90 percent. I usually only use calculationss when I want a 'harsher' look.
Again, thanks for the comments.

Bill,

great perspective on this, only not would be to get you central to the walkway so there was more symmetry but it works nicely as is

Cheers

Peter - we live about 80 minutes north of center Philadelphia, and unfortunately we don't get into the city as often as we should. The difficulty is getting into the city from the north, as there really is only one major road (Schuylkill Express Way). We enjoy walking around the historic areas, and a couple weeks ago we toured the Penns Landing area. Of course, I had to have a couple 'Philly Cheesesteaks!"

Martyn - I wanted to get a couple more shots of them, however, it had started to rain (which was good for me getting the women with the umbrellas ) however, it was bad for me in that I didn't have any protection for my camera gear and wanted to put it under my shirt as soon as possible.
Thanks for commenting.

Ray - Thank you. This was really a 'lucky' shot in that I had been walking around parts of Philadelphia and I was walking back to our hotel at Penns Landing when it started to rain. (Even though we live about 80 minitues from there, my wife was attending a conference and I decided to spen a day ther). I was about 10 minutes from the hotel and rushing back with the camera under my shirt, and then saw this shot .. took a couple quick ones and put camera back. I was lucky in that there weren't a lot of other people around and the dark clouds worked as well.
Regards,
Bill

Hi Bill,
I prefer the processing on this one over the other interesting image you recently posted. I think it could use a bit more blacks but it has a very appealing, slightly other-wolrdly feel. Really neat!
