Am thinking of getting this one at some point. Anyone got it here?

On another note, is it legal to buy someone elses D700 book (assuming they do not make a copy of their cd or something)?

To the first question, I have no personal experience but have only heard good things about his books.

To the second question, if they sell the book to you and do not keep any copies, then yes. Any consumer product I buy I can sell to someone else barring certain technological items (computers) to certain foriegn nations (Libia, Iran, North Korea, etc.).

Really? I guess I need to call "The Dear Leader" to see if he can send back those computers I just sold him.

Peace,

Todd

Max, it's an e-book and small printed guide:

http://www.bythom.com/nikond700guide.htm
"1000+ pages, eBook (Macintosh and Windows CD-ROM supplied; uses Acrobat Reader) + 128-page portable printed guide. "

While I'm not in Greece, I am able to say that Thom's D700 ebook has been a solid investment for me. Time is money--and Thom gets me to a deeper understanding than does the manual in less time.

Thom states very specificaly that you can treat his ebook exactly as you would a book--you can sell it, convey it to the buyer of your camera, etc. But you can't legally do so if you are keeping a copy.

Thom strikes me as a standup guy--gives a lot of bang for moderate buck. There is free stuff at is Website that's worth reading, and I'm happy to support him on the "for sale" products.

Best,

Its an excellent resource. Goes much deeper than the manual does. The paper copy fits in small bags and the rear cover doubles as a gray card.

I have bought Thom's books in the past and when I bought a D700, one of the first additional purchases I made was Thom's book. I have found it to be very useful.

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but I didn't find the book all that useful. I usually tend to play with settings quite a bit, and read a lot of posts from other users on a lot of forums. After I finished the book... I think I probably came away with one or two interesting things, but that's it. So for me, the book wasn't a worthwhile purchase.

I purchased it because I saw so much praise for it. I guess we all learn things differently. I have it for sale, if anyone's interested.

I've got the book. It's really frustrating to look something up as the index is very limited. All the menu shots are in black & white. The Canon books I've read had color images of the menu explanations - much easier to work with cognitively.

I'd just go with your Nikon manual

Strange, all the menu shots in my version are in color.

You may want to also consider "Mastering the D700", it's excellent.
