Great photo! That sun looks huge! I really like the colors and the layers.
Hello Paul, thanks for commenting. It was cropped from an image shot with a 200 mm lens, hence the large size of the sun. That also enabled me to limit the image to the area of intense color and light. Glad you enjoyed the result.

Very nice shot - delightful colors and comp. And a perfectly cooperative bird to pose in mid flight for your shot too.
Alan
Hello Alan, thanks for commenting. Another fine morning on the beach. There are so many birds that some are bound to be captured, but only the very well trained ones are in the right place at the right time Glad you enjoyed this one

I like everything but the bird, Hugh. I feel like it is too distracting and disturbs the lines you have. I love the abstract quality you have achieved with the strong use of color.
Sharon
Hi Sharon, thanks for commenting and for the feedback. I try to avoid the 'colored clouds' syndrome by including other elements in the scene. Maybe I go too far on occasion In any event, glad you enjoyed the image otherwise

Like a nuclear explosion. Very brave.
I like it, the bird too which adds a calmer element.
Ute
Hi Ute, thanks for commenting. Zooming down into a sunrise can create intense contrasts. Glad you enjoyed the 'fire' . Summer provides a wealth of heat

That's intense alright, really nice shot. Not sure about the bird though, it's a bit small to stand out and blends with the cloud band a bit too much. I think if it were to the lower right over the sun, and a nice black silhouette it'd be great.
Hello Whayne, thanks for commenting, for the compliments, and the suggestion. I've passed it on to the pelican and she promises to do better next time Sorry, couldn't resist . Glad you mostly enjoyed the image.

Amazing shot, Hugh. Aside from the obvious intensity of this shot, I don't think I have ever seen such an unusual series of cloud formations.
Very interesting shot, and one that is extremely unique.
Cheers,
Ed
Hello Ed, thanks for the kind compliments. Zooming into the most intense area of a sunrise can produce surprising results. Glad you enjoyed this one

Great catch, Hugh. Beautiful layered sky and light. The pelican is a sweet element to discover!
Barry
Hello Barry, thanks for commenting. Glad you enjoyed the summer intensity. It's not widespread, but zooming in on it is very gratifying, particularly when the birds cooperate
