I will be shooting a wedding the end of August and this will be the first wedding where I will be using a second shooter. All my past weddings I have shot pretty much with one body and havent had a need to use 2 bodies but this wedding I will have 3 bodies in use. a 5D, 5DMKII, and 1DMKII.

My question is how do you all handle the files from multiple bodies.

I use LR2 and CS3. Can I just upload all the files to one folder in LR and work from there? Is it really that easy?

Just make sure the numbers don't repeat. One camera is 1001 make sure the other 2 are not close and have a chance of using the same numbers or can get very mixed up later.

Alternately, you can just make a folder for the entire event, then dump each camera's files into a subfolder of it. Tell Lightroom to import subfolders as well and you should be all set.

If you need to process the images from the different cameras differently, filter them by camera model in Lightroom and apply color-coding to make sorting easier.

#1, sychronize all the cameras before your day begins, date/hr, min & second
this way, you can batch all the images & rename by date/time shot, and voila ... your day is in order

you can use LR or PS for this task

I use this for weddings, dances, dog sports etc ... can often have 6 photogs shooting with up to 10 cameras, and the above rule saves your butt

On Import to Lightroom you can rename a file automatically. I have mine set up as follows:
Date(yymmdd)(Hour)(minute)(second)_(File Number Sequence)

File Number sequence picks up the number from the camera's numbering - so IMG_1001 taken on July 1 2009 at 10:01:01 becomes

090701100101_1001.jpg (or CR2 or whatever suffix).

Sort your photos by file name and you are good to go. Very low odds of getting the same file number sequence taken at the exact same time of day.

Yes, LR will automatically put a "_02" extension to the name of any duplicate file numbers on import.

not sure what camera(s) you are using, but they all have clocks internally, go thru your menu's and find the day/time settings, to sychronize, change one so both are exactly the same time, sometimes you must wait for the seconds to be exact ... we've done this with both canon & nikon, and it works
