This shot I tried to emulate the grain in Tri-X using LR3s grain feature to match a silver gelatin print I made in a film class. Not a great attempt. The original was actually a very clean file without noise.

Thanks for looking and the feedback!

To be honest I've never really shot around with a D1X, but I will say the D1H has some stunning files for a 2.7 MP camera. I has very clean high iso shots too, much better than the D2H.

chrisnyee, looking forward to my days with a D1X or D1H... awe heck, truth be known I will probably own both of them someday as I still have a soft spot in my heart for the old battle axe Nikon film cameras too. Well, at least there are worse maladies to have in this world or so I keep telling myself.

So I lied, found another of my favs taken six weeks after I got my first D2H and the venerable Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 AFD push pull zoom lens. After reviewing my pics from this beach trip I realized that many shots were out of focus on moving kids. I think the handwriting is clearly on the wall now that I would do much better with a 80-200 f/2.8 AFS or the 70-200 f/2.8 VR1 or VR2.

A broken record sounds better than I do... here's another. Gotta love what a D2H or D2HS can do in good light! 8^)

Nice shots there! I particularly like the second one myself!

As far as the D1H and D1X go, they handle very similarly to an F5, if you like that.

Gaylon, very enjoyable pics with the rock chuck (prairie dog, squirrel?) and the dragon fly really catching my eye. I am curious what 300mm lens you were using for these?

Thank you.

Those two were taken with the 70-300 VR. It's my favourite walkabout lens and the 4 MP sensor is very kind to it.

Don't often use the Sigma 150 on the 4 MP body so I played around with the combo in the yard today. Seemed to get along nicely

Gaylon, you go well. Neat shots with the Iris flower especially showcasing why I love the D2H/D2HS.

Sure, D2h's are awesome when the pictures are 8 inches, but I bet they don't look half as great when you blow them up to 80 feet by 100 feet.

Thank you. Spring has had a tough time getting here in Wyoming. My favourite subjects are just now starting to appear regularly. Hope the weather improves for you

Thank you. I've enjoyed your images also. You have a good eye.

Gman - that is a great picture. Well seen and love the post work.

BioBanker - you might be surprised how well the old LBCAST files hold up to uprezzing. Certainly not competitive with modern high resolution files but Genuine Fractals produces rather impressive results. Now quit makin' fun of our small pixel counts- we're sensitive 'bout them things
