beautiful. Now, to make it really the 'grail' from California, can you PS some poppies over those yellow weeds? (ps: altho you might be thinking 'white', they're best with pinot noir )
Too bad I don't have any pics of California Poppies. Thanks for the suggestion, Stan.

Beautiful! I would like to know wich lens and camera you used
Monique,
I use mainly the Nikon D300 and AF-S 300mm f/4 for bird photos. Most of the time with the addition of the 1.7x TC (also Nikon, not off brand). The performance is great but not spectacular, with a lot of practice and hard work, maybe the photographer can make a difference. Thank you for the comment.
Hi Andy, sorry I'm so late to see these... I so wish I could spend more time here, I miss it so much.
These are the best Quail pics I've ever seen... let alone that you were able to get the chicks as well, just terrific work in being able to capture these with your patience and knowledge of your subjects.
#2 is just awesome... Holy Grail indeed.
Excellent work my friend... a real pleasure to see.
#2 is really special – right at eye level with a clean foreground. I imagine seeing this shot will still have your heart pounding in years to come. For me this is why photography is so special – as you get to relive the moment time and time again! Dave

You're not late buddy. Sometimes life just gets in the way.
Thank you, Kirk for speaking your mind. They're difficult to get, especially the father-and-son portrait. Hey, whenever you get time, we should hang out do some shooting.
