Having shot those rough Quadra tests earlier in the week, I returned to the same spot yesterday but this time on a clear sunny day. One head used on full power through a Lastolite umbrella box with sun as a backlight.

I received my set today, a Quadra with an A-head, standard reflector, the 18 cm reflector with a grid ( gives some extra protection when packing) and the adapter ring to use larger Elinchrom modifiers.
I also got a Think Tank Urban Disguise 40, a perfect bag to pack the complete set.
Using a slightly larger carabiner than the ones supplied with the strap, it's very easy to mount the pack to the fastening knobs of a lightstand, in my case a 001 nano by Manfrotto. No sand bag needed.
First job with it tomorrow.
Thanks roan! Just placed my order, also called a couple of retailers to see when they would get theirs. I can't freaking wait, I needed this 1 week ago.
You can also call Pictureline.com and pre-order, they said Bogen told them Mid-July for deliveries. Ask for Sharon, tell her I sent you and she'll hook you up. Prices are same as Amazon.
I was at the dutch dealer yesterday (actually to get my ranger RX...quadra is next ) and they told me they sold like hot cakes...1 guy came in that already had bought 2 of them!

Yeah, $40 sounds about right!
My favorite was when I bought a Mamiya 7II system in 1998. I ordered it just a couple of days before Xmas as a "gift" to myself. I bought 2 bodies plus 3 lenses to start - a 50mm, 65mm, and an 80mm. Plus a few odds and ends, but that was most of it at that time.
My wife asked how much it was, and I hemmed and hawed a bit. She finally asked "Was it more than $500?" Yes. "More than $1,000?" I said yesand we left it at that.
A few years later we were travelling and we were late getting on a connecting flight from another flight on the same airline. I had a roller with the Mamiya systm 2 bodies, 5 lenses, spot meter, etc., plus about 60-100 rolls of 220 film with me.
The stewardess wanted me to "gate check" the bag - give it to her to put in the hold witrh the regular baggage - and she was pretty persistant. I refused, and finally asked if they would insure it as I had "more than $7,000 worth of equipment in the bag." Whoops! Big mistake - my wife picked up on that one right away.
The only good thing was that a few years later when I sold the Mamiya 7II, I told her I used the funds to buy the Canon 1DsII. I never really had to tell her how much the 1DsII cost - $8,000.
Anybody pre-ordered from Amazon before? Do they usually get the first round of stocks? Or am I better off waiting for B&H and Adorama for stuff to be available. Just want to get these things the quickest way possible.

Hey Michael, do you know if airlines still let you have a bag insured? The times I've tried to get them to treat a bag nicely, they offered to slap a fragile sticker on it and gave me a form to sign relinquishing them of any responsibility in case something happened.
I'd feel slightly shy about posting these among the fantastic shots here if it weren't for the fact that they're my first attempts at off-camera flash. My Quadra arrived yesterday ;-)
I'm really enjoying seeing what everyone is doing with them. My stands & umbrellas should arrive next week. Thanks for the inspiration - steep learning curve ahead!!
