I had the pleasure of shooting Jennifer and Dustin's engagement pictures at Wilmington, NC with Sahid of Limon Photography. It was supposed to be storming all day, but as it turned out, the day was absolutely beautiful. We decided to shoot in downtown Wilmington, a park, and by the beach.
These two were extremely laid back and very fun to work with. Jennifer is a nurse and Dustin is an Air Force safety personnel. The guy builds ejection seats, gets to do 8.5G's in fighter jet tests, and trains pilots in survival tactics... yet he thinks his job is ordinary! They are a very down to earth couple and we all had an amazing time.
Very cute couple. No numbers (you totally know better), but I'll try any how. The lighting in 4 looks epic (off camera speed light?). I really like 7, it tickles my fancy, for shizzle. The processing is great. I actually found myself thinking that the matching sandals were cute, even though I specifically tell my couples that sandals on boys are big no-no. This guy apparently has decent man-feet. 14 is super sexy and 17 is symmetry-riffic. They'll love the set, dude.
Dang... that was fast Saad. I'll try to post some of mine before the end of the day. I think these turned out really nicely. 5, 8, 10, 11, 16, and 17 are my fav. ones. Awesome set. I have a few similar shots, but still different variation.
Tim, this was the couple's first shoot for anything. They did have a great connection, but were pretty camera shy.

Yeah, I noticed that I might of been just a tad harsh... thus Saad's got two caller id's from my phone waiting for him. =oP

Damn, Tim, I can't get a call back even after a night of passion..!
I agree somewhat with the 'no connection' feeling here. The couple may have it, certainly, but I'm not as much feeling it...like, I feel 'removed' from these shots. Many poses are the same (either kissing, locked eyes close to kissing, or holding from behind) and just feel a bit static. The exposures are awesome, so is the colour...composition-wise, I love #5 the most. I hope this helps and isn't too jerk-ish.
Adam - thanks for your support! #4 had an off camera strobe to camera left.
Tim - some people are more reserved than others, I can't MAKE people connect. That needs to be something inherent within the individuals. These two truly are a lovely couple, albeit, a little shy. They have never taken photographs together before... ever.
Red - I don't fully understand the question, however, I don't usually understand much of anything you say =) Nonetheless, my objective has always been to make the clients happy and to do what I enjoy.
Jeremy - Thanks for the critique, I agree about the poses. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot too many engagements. In fact, this is my second. I'll try to improve on the points you mentioned. I'm taking everything in stride - learning to expose well, dealing with colors, learning to use light... will work on posing soon as well =)

Hey buddy... Jeremy put it a lil bit better than I did. I am addressing a broken flashloader issue on my blog, so I'm a bit busy. Good stuff, they'll love em. I just like to see more smiles =o)
I'd say these are far from an fail let alone an epic fail. These are actually very good IMO. 14 and 15 show some good lovey dovey emotion. I dig the compositions on these as well. School bus, water park etc.
Dang, Sahid showed up too? I should have came. Second though, everyone would have suspected bombs in our cameras. The general rule is, 2 middle easterners at any given place.

Uh, Sam... both Saad and I are actually South Asian (Pakistani, Bangladesh) descent.. not middle eastern The funny thing is, Dustin's old job at the air force was managing bombs for air crafts, and he gave us the whole insight into how much fun that was. You know what though, if you came along on the shoot... then THAT would've been da bomb.

Let me clarify... the couple = epic fail. All I see here is the same look, over and over and over again.
Saad my buddy... lol, I've called him more than I've called you. =oP
Point is, it's our job to pull out more than one look. I'm sure Saad did, it's just not posted here for some reason. Saad's got sick skills...
Saad... very nice, solid set. i love the colors. they look very fresh and bright.. almost Caribbean. I never would have expected NC. It really was perfect weather. I do see the slight disconnect with the photographer, but they also seem to be into each other. I wouldn't say its a fail by any means though. You have some really cool compositions, like Sam said. I love 10 and 11, but think they'd be even stronger slightly offset as opposed to centered. I love the colors in shot 1... wow.
No ring shots?
Does anyone else think this guy is a dead ringer for PGA Tour golfer, Paul Casey?
I like #14 a lot. Some minor composition issues caught my eye - shutter through the head in #1, lamp on the head in #12, lamp on the arm in #16. Hope this helps.
