ewadler - Yes, my CY is just a tiny bit wider than my ZF - I'm pretty sure that isn't down to sample variation.
AGeoJO - The veiling flare does look bad in the samples I posted, but I was deliberately going for a worst-case example there - bright sun, dark foreground, sky over-exposed.
In 'real' shooting situations I've found the ZF handles flare better than the CY.
I'm looking forward to trying the 14-24 myself, it does look very promising and to my eyes it draws the sun nicely as well.
In general I don't see the ZF21 as any 'better' or 'worse' than the CY21. For me they can both give an image that's sharp right across the frame, they're virtually free of CA, they suffer from the same distortion and they're both expensive.
The ZF seems a tiny bit warmer and more contrasty, the CY's true FL is a fraction shorter.
For my money the biggest difference is that you can mount the ZF on a Nikon body, you can't do that with a CY21 (at least not without major surgery).
Going back to flare, my little Nikkor 20mm f3.5 is the best lens I've ever had at shooting into the sun. Not as sharp as the ZF or the CY, but it's no slouch.
