What do folks think about what and when Nikon will release the next-gen developments in prosumer-level DSLRs? Anyone have an idea as to what's happening out there?
On the high end flagship front, have the d3x, if holding off for that's replacement....got about 2 years.
d700/d300 level....if the d700 doesn't sway you nothing will. Vague rumors of a d700X. D300 may get replaced, but for how much gonna be difficult to determine. Expensive as is now. If it creeps up in price, unless you have an army of dx glass, may make that d700 real appealing.
d90 being top of entry body imo, not much to be tweaked on that before it becomes a d300 level cam and that would cut off that market. Have to prevent market overlap, would be nice, but pro level features in a consumer body ain't gonna happen for business reasons. D90 less than a year old, would not hold breath
What' next for Nikon? Well, Nikon may merge with Canon to corner the camera market. I don't know.... I am just pulling this out of thin air . Time to go to bed...
Once DX body gains close to D700 high ISO, then I am happy with it. It can be D300 built quality or D90 built quality as long as it has the screw drive AF capability...
Well, you can't stay on top without staying ahead of the game, but I guess we the consumer never stop craving "the next thing". C'mon Nikon already! What have you done for us lately?!
While I'd not mind seeing a D400 with D700-like high ISO performance, I'd much rather see an F4 lineup of pro-level lenses. Man, how I miss my 24-105 and 70-200 from my Canon days. Come on Nikon!
