I wouldnt bother with the background either.
Very nice capture with good expression, eye contact, detail.

I would not bother with background unless it adds to the story. I agree very fashion-ish type of shot. Do you have it as a vertical? For more flowing of the hair?

Good pic, but the BG burnout is a kind of the downside of the image!
