Hey Jess, these are great portraits! You did these shots justice in b/w as well. I love the shot in #2 in terms of the composition and the portrait orientation. Not as crazy of the framing in shot #1. Seems a little boring and too centered.

My 2 cents

take care!

Good, lively portraits.
My only pick is about her hands that seem to overpower the image.

Jess

I'm not a portrait photographer at all but these really sing to me. Especially #2 I personally really like the power of her hands and the details with the veins showing. Both are very nice

These are very nice portraits. The conversions are good. I really like the look of the second.

Jess,
I agree with the others- two excellent portraits.
With the first- the "bullseye" centering and horizontal format shouldn't work- but they do. I think it's the inclusion of the man's shoulders that make it work.
In the second shot- it helps, of course, that the woman is beautiful. Although her hands and arms might be considered too dominant, it looks to me as though she is about to rip her shirt off- and that ain't all bad . Combined with her subtle "come hither" look, and I think this is a sexy photograph. Really sexy.

I think these are wonderful. Simple, clean, minimalist and visually striking. Well done.

First one shows great character and expression. Only nit is that I wish his left eye was not shadowed.
Interesting pose in the second one. It's different, but it works for me.
Am dying to know what that tattoo on her arm states.

I encourage others to check out the link. It's quick, and the shots are great.

I like these portraits and wish I could do as well.
But maybe I am the only one that thinks the contrast may be a bit too much and the lighting off. I dont mind some of the deep shadows, but feel its especially unattractive under the woman's jaw.

I like these shots a lot, #2 especially. I want to see a shot of the tattoo on her arm.

The second is my favorite. Her hands demand quite a bit of attention, but they show a good deal of character and are exquisitely positioned and exposed so they work well. In the first, I'm wishing you had the peak of his hat and maybe cropped square instead?

Both are very well converted and beautifully shot.

Cheers.
