p.1 #1 · Elinchrom Softboxes

I'm switching to Elinchrom lights and I'm wondering if I should just buy new speedrings for my Photoflex softboxes or sell the Photoflex boxes and buy Elinchrom softboxes. BTW, I've already ordered the Deep Octa. Any input will be appreciated.

I have nothing against Photoflex and have a couple of their softboxes. But once you get your Octa you'll see how much you love Elinchrom and the engineering. I don't have much experience mixing different brand softbox diffusers but I choose to minimize any color variance by using the same brand (Elinchrom) if I use more than one box. I don't think a hair light will make much difference but a key and fill might.

Thanks, Gregg. I'll look forward to seeing if the Deep Octa is everything they say it is.

BTW, do all of the Elinchrom Rotalux softboxes expand and collapse the same way?

All the Rotalux do, but not the Indirect Lightbanks.

Are the Indirect Lightbanks popular? What is the difference in the light they put out compared to regular lightboxes?

They're popular, they're also prohibitively expensive. They are softer and larger.
