p.1 #1 · First bird in flight

This is a redtail hawk I suppose. I need to work on my telephoto technique to get a sharper photo but I really enjoyed the crop factor of the 40d paired with a 300 in this situation.

Well done! Maybe a little more shutterspeed would have helped but very impressive nonetheless!

Super, got one! Now you are hooked That shot looks good for a crop, what shutter speed and lens combo were you shooting? Congrats and keep at it, even the ones you aren't going to shoot keep panning on them for good practice

Good luck and hope to see more soon.............

Thanks for all of your responses, and yeah it is a lot of fun and I look forward to getting out again soon to shoot. This shot was taken with a 300L f/2.8 on a 40d at 400iso apterture 4.0, 1/3200 handheld. I guess I should bump the iso, open up the aperture, engage IS or use a tripod in the future. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend and I can test a few different settings and work on my technique some more. Take it easy,

Wilson

You are off to a fine start. It takes a lot of practice to get good at flight photography.
