p.1 #1 · Young Moorhen

I took these shots of a juvenile Common Moorhen near the Golden Gate national Park which is unique because of its unbelievable sandstone formations. C&C please (Lil I tried the faster shutter speed and f8 and used a monopod )

I was after a Little Grebe which proved elusive but I settled down quietly and after a while this lovely confiding bird emerged from the reeds. Adults have a yellow bill and a red shield and tend to be pretty tame.

The Little Grebe (aka Dabchick) put in an appearance the next morning in lousy light so I upped the ISO and got this disappointing picture which is here for record only!

Peter,

I see an improvement in sharpness in these

but dare I mention your horizon line. First one fairly good - but # 2 & 3....

Look at the ripples in the water.

I have today sold my monopod because I don't like working off one.

Sharpness-wise # 2 is your best shot -

Reflection-wise # 1 is my top pick - & I love the colors.

I'm going to agree with all that Lil said here.

My eyes were drawn unfortunately fast to the horizon line and it maybe not being level. #2 is nice and sharp yet #1 probably has the best feel for me.

#2 might be the winner if it wasn't cropped so tight.

Cheers!

Josh
