I'm not testing mine, I'll discover in due course what is fixed or different.

So far, a better fix than the last fix ...

Do you get an email when once they recieve it? Tracking in UPS says it was delivered yesterday in VA.

I sent a lens to Jamesburg ... also delivered yesterday ... got a call on that asking for the OK for the calibration cost. They told me 3 day turn around.

Mine is a refurb ... gold dot. Serial number says mfg'd after the prior "fix" (mirror box). No complaints, but I don't shoot too much in Al Servo. Figured I might as well take advantage of the free calibration check, cleaning, etc. Maybe it does need those washers and spacers ...

I didn't get a tracking or repair number until I called in. After I got the number I saw that they had the camera for just one day before it shipped back to me. You should definitely get a tracking number so you can be available for the necessary fedex signature.

Mark,

I called CPS and got a tracking number. They did the work in 1 day as well, and it goes out tonight. 2 day Fedex. I asked what they did, and was told washers, firmware and calibration. I had already loaded the firmware, but perhaps they didn't notice or it's SOP.

Just took my MKIII out but in overcast skies, AV mode RAW, AI Servo and shot 16 of someone sprinting towards me, 1 was oof and it was the 10th. I was handholding my 300 2.8 so it may have been me. I'm impressed and I never would have had that many in focus in the past. Will wait for sun and try again

mine arrived tuesday but i don't know how to check and see if it's done or coming back. I just hope i have the same luck of it being better than the mk2 like other people.

Got mine back 7 days door to door. They put a notice in my box that said CPS Member RUSH and it was sent to me FedEx Overnight. Received it yesterday. Tonight will be the real test at an NHL game. I am a little concerned about my M/A... I have not had time to retest and don't know if the adjustments will be off now that it is "fixed".

My return sheet said nothing about washers...but only AF Adjustments and Firmware upgrade (which I did prior to sending).

Fed-EX dropped off the camera (1DSMIII) about an hour ago. I went out in the street with the 16-35II and rattled off 77 shots @ f2.8 panning rather rapidly. Not too scientific but all shots were 100% in focus using AI servo and the ring of fire. So far so good. I'll know more after my hike this weekend. First time I have had 100% since I have owned the camera.

Well.. I am thrilled with the results from tonight.

That whole occasional "smear/ghosting" I used to see pretty much completely disappeared. Shots moving directly at me used to be somewhat problematic as well. Not anymore. This is what I was hoping for.

Glad to hear it Andrew. I'm very happy to hear your camera is working great just like mine. I've read all your posts over the last year about the MKIII. Canon is going to win back some customers with this fix. It is really good news to hear your report.

I might be joining this club too ... fingers crossed.

I've had some success with ROF AI servo on static and moving subjects. This just did not work before, even after the first recall and I was in awe of those BIF shots as I could never replicate them, now I feel my camera might ~ but I have not tried.

And now that I am beginning to trust it to get the AF correct, I'm beginning to use it more too, instead of the 5D ~ don't know if it's working as good as the 5D yet, but at this early stage the 5D might find itself stepping back into reserve mode.

Well this is depressing. I was hoping every body would still have big problems so I wouldn't have to consider getting the 1D III. All this talk of working AF has made my wife very nervous.

I would bet that the current stock of Mark IIIs in the hands of retailers do not have the latest fix. Canon has yet to publish the last serial number affected by the recall, so no one can be sure what has been fixed. I know that ser. # 582xxx have been sent in for the fix.
You're in the UK but but over here, sellers are not even willing to read serial numbers over the phone to a prospective buyer. You have to physically go to the store and read the serial number yourself. Mine is with Canon for the fix right now.

I just got my Mark III back from CPS in Germany. I haven't yet done any specific testing, but did notice that it doesn't seem to hunt nearly as much in Servo mode as before. I'll give it a test drive over the weekend and report back in. Looks very promising

I have just spoken to Calumet here in th UK.

The sales peson on the phone was fully aware of the outer focusing point issue.

All of their stock was recalled by Canon. Latests stock received by them was dated 24 March 2009 and already has the latest firmware and any "fix" implemented.

Do I now pull the trigger and purchase?

Yup, mine is with Canon right now. I am expecting it back in the early portion of next week.

Yes, they do..

Two of my Mark IIIs were fixed there for the latest service .. also others reported that they do as well in prior posts..

What is your opinion of the repair?

I called Canon and they told me it should have gone to VA, but NJ can fix it as well. He said NJ may just forward it to VA. Maybe if' its lost I would be out of my misery.
