I just found out about this update and updated to 1.0.7 from 1.0.6

this reminds me... I'm not entirely sure how to check for firmware updates for my Nikon D300 .... anyone know more about that or if there has been one?

What version you running now on your D300? I found this info on dpreview.com:

Nikon has today announced a firmware update for the D300, taking it to v1.10. The update improves focus performance in dynamic-area AF mode contrast-detect mode in live view but also looks at a whole range of other issues.

Yes... apparently it is a black dot issue fix and it seems to have solved the problem. You also have to update the software though. I'm guessing Adobe will have to send a lightroom patch through as well.

interesting.... I'm running it looks like v. 1.02 and 1.00 ? there's and menu looks like this:

Firmware version:

A 1.02
B 1.00

Looks like I have an update to do.... I hadn't even looked into that yet.

Yah it does fix that dot and the vertical banding noise, but you must also update your software as well like mentioned above.
