p.1 #1 · To grit or not to grit

The capture was taken by our other daughter - photo used with her permission. My post-processing.

A traditional version versus one with an edge - actually the 'edge' is something I stumbled across in NX2 - BW conversion but overlay blend, adjust sliders to taste. I sort of like the different approach but have doubts that opinion would be wildly accepted.

Your thoughts (if any)..

Thanks,

<edit> The more I look the more the second reminds me in a way of an ASA 400+ color film, or maybe Ektachrome slide film

Kaden will probably know if no one else does

I was playing with Bibble 4.10 for the first...

Fantastic model - she is really cute with a great expression.

I like the cropping better int he 2nd - less top and side.

But I like the 1st one better for processing. She is so cute and her expression is so great, why make the picture grittier. It makes her runny nose show up. For me the 2nd grit processing does not suit the subject. It would if it were a workman with dirt on his face but not her for me.

Thanks Scott,

Agreed, the grit was an experiment on my part - her mother and grandmother (my wife) would have no part of the grit either. I was more taken by the effect than the subject

She made her debut in an earlier post - naughty chair - iirc.

And I do need to crop the traditional version closer as you suggest.

I have to agree with Scott - Beautiful ,cute toddler and yes, the crop on the gritty image is definitely better!

I was thinking, why don't you try something in between? Go lighter on the gritty part and show us the result

Less grit - bumped opacity back to around 10%.

Gorgerous girl! Great image.
Crop improves.
I prefer the original, not the Extra Gritty.
Among grit, prefer your original. For some reason, appears more British?!?

Thanks Scott,

I was pleasantly surprised by Bibble, like the skin tones.
