p.1 #1 · She has skills

My associate photographer recently discovered she has skills besides photography - she made the tutu(s), a bunch of flowers with hair clips, and "baby bows" to use when photographing babies and children in our studio....These images were all taken for our blog. I tried my best to get her to wear something more appropriate under the tutu - but she wasn't having it. So these were mostly just for fun.

I think because I associate the background and lighting with either baby shots or family portraits fomr the 70's they don't quite work for me.

The tutu and the flowers look great (some skills there) but if you want to draw attention to them, then focus on them.. For example, go in close on the head with the red flower....capture her eyes and the flower, then you have product :-)

Hope you don't mind the comments....

I enjoyed the photos, and visit your blog occasionally. I agree with Terry(^)...you are incredibly lucky to have her. If my daughter looks like that when she's 20, I'm going to have to build a moat!

Great shots. It looks like you had some fun. I would like #3 even better if she was slightly looking up at the camera while keeping the same pose that she has. Either way, I really like them. Nice work.

Bruce, the post said they were also for the photographer's blog. I went to the blog and it looks more like advertising than "just for fun." I believe pumaknight's comments are warranted.

By the way -- to rburbank -- your website and blog are quite professional, and I love your color themes and processing. Because I have a teenage ballerina who may go professional, I tend to think along the same lines that it would have been nicer had your model worn something more appropriate under the tutu. HOWEVER, the girl is strikingly pretty, and let's face the fact that she is making this particular outfit work.

I really appreciate all the comments!

She is amazingly fun to work with....as you can imagine, men (and boys) are drawn to her like a moth to a flame. We worked two County Fairs last summer, and it was kind of a hobby to stand off at a distance and watch the guys gather 'round when she was in the booth.

Honestly, we didn't give a moments thought (obviously) to the background....and it shows We had about 10 minutes between moments of madness to take these shots.

I am flattered that a few of you read my blog from time to time.

Oh...one thing I didn't mention in the original post is that these images were all shot with the new Canon 5dMKII. The detail in the files is quite amazing. Its curious though, when they first come up on the monitor, they look a little soft....like maybe Portraiture has already been run on them.....but it seems to be mostly an illusion.

Mine does. Moats don't work.
