Okay so I don't understand the whole blog thing. Why are they important? And, really... I have to come up with something charming to say about each shoot? Does everyone have a blog?
I'm still a little overwhelmed with the idea. I guess writing about my experiences on a shoot isn't something I imagined doing... but I can get over it.
Some of the most successful photographers in the world don't have blogs. Some have blogs that are somewhat unrelated to their client shoots (Evan comes to mind). If you want to do it and think it will help, great. If not, then I wouldn't do something that you don't enjoy.

Again, I ask though.... does everyone have one?
No, not everyone has one. It really depends on your personality and how you want to use it. If you have no problem with marketing and you are getting tons of work, I wouldn't worry about it. Many of us use it as another opportunity to get our name out there, and I personally use it to keep people updated on my latest work.
People like to connect and stalk... think facebook, myspace, etc. Blogs allow you to have a fan base and allow for free advertising. Moreover, they help show all the recent work and helps keep bulk off the main site (where you can show your best).
Jessica Claire and Jasmine Star are geniuses at blogging and have developed a huge fan base due to it.
