p.1 #1 · My lens set up.... yes another one of these stupid questions.

My current setup:

5D
40D

EFS 17-55
35L
50 1.4
85 1.8
Tamron 70-200 2.8

Would it make sense for me to sell my 17-55 (which I love) and buy a 16-35L I lens so that I have a wide angle for my newly acquired used 5D?

Or do any of you have other suggestions?

I'm new to my 5D.... I can't believe how wide the 35 feels with it compared to my 40D...

Let me just add... I think about selling my 70-200 and buying a used 135L and forget about having the zoom. I hate it anyway as it is so big and cumbersome. Sometimes I think I would like to shoot with a 20 or 24 prime, 35L, 50 1.4, 85 1.8 and 135L.

That would be a great kit.

That would make quite a bit of sense, yes.

I shoot 95% of my work on a 35L - either on a 5D or a 40D. The other 5% is either UWA (17-40 on 5D for example) or telephoto (85/1.2)

You have more than enough to cover a wedding.

Keep the 17-55 for the 40D. With IS and given its sharpness, it cannot be beat.

+1

I'd be wary of the 16-35 on the 5D... I found it really wide and I didn't like the distortion. The look of it wasn't my thing.

I have the 16-35mm, I used it as my main wide angle until I bought the 24-70mm, I now seem to use this MUCH more than the 16-35mm, in fact it's more or less on my 5D 80% of the day.

Maybe I'll just keep the 17-55 for wides (I don't really like much wider than the 17) and save up for a 24L....

Should I ditch the Tamron 70-200 (which by the way produces beautiful images) for the 135L? I just hate lugging around the 70-200.... or is it necessary. I haven't yet shot anything where it has been.

Good idea to keep the 17-55.

Since you've never really used the full telephoto of the 70-200, I say get the 135L and then if the need ever arises (I'm sure it will), get the 200 2.8 .... That said, I love my 70-200 2.8L and will never part with it!
