Hello Everyone,
I just posted for the first time in sports, and I figured I should post some wedding shots to get some well needed C&C's. I've assisted on a few weddings, however last summer I shot my first solo wedding, and here are my top pics.
Enjoy!

Hi Josh!
Agree with visitor2004 also 3 and 5 don't really seem related to the Wedding, 4 seems too glowy but I really like #9 though the composition could be improved
First solo weddings are always nerve-racking as can be . . . major props and a big congrats on tackling it! The images are great and I'm sure the clients will love them, keep up the good work!
You need to look into what can be done with PP. This set would look a lot better with more even exposure for a start - some are a bit too dark, 4 is ruined by underexposure ie it is essentially a perfectly exposed shot of a tree
Have a good play in Lightroom or PS - or go buy one or both if you haven't yet.
You're off to a good start! I imagine sports photography helps a lot with weddings. The first solo one is really nerve racking! I don't have my second solo until February, so I'm doing some other stuff in the mean time.
The one thing you did was make the classic mistake I made for my first "Second shooting" wedding - underexposure. Now I try to expose correctly or even overexpose a tad (very, very slight) and bring it back in post processing. I found my exposures were better when I switched to manual shooting mode, but you can get good exposures with other shooting modes as well, if you are careful. Caucasian skin is slightly lighter than 18% grey by about 1 stop - depending on the skin tone. I spot meter off skin for a lot of my shots -- then I compensate by +1. Hope that helps!
I actually don't see anything wrong with the tree shot because the exposure creates ambience -- which is good. Some of my favorite photographers expose for the scene and not just the couple.
Thank you all very much for the C&C's....The non-wedding shots were one around tthe church, the couple are both musical and very religious - Something I should have mentioned, and would make them seem less out of place.
As for comments about shots being too dark...I can see that, to me, I thought it looked okay, but I personally go for deep colours and contrast.
The famous tree shot It was a quick snapshot that was pretty out of focus but I figured I do something cool with it on PS, so I did - again, to me it was cool.
I agree completely about the exposure - and I've learned since then, as this was actually Sept 2007, I will however take your suggestions Deb ands try those out next time I do some portrat work.
I'm not sure when I'll do my next wedding - However I can safely say I don't think I've been more nervous shooting anything than I was that day, lol.
