that's b/c there is no bright light behind the bird. That's why I suggested to wait around for the bird to move into better position/angle...


Yeah unfortunately it does not move. It roosts in this same exact spot every day. It just happened to open it's eyes at the point I took the shot. Thanks for the advice.

Smile, at least you saw this little guy. Not much we can do about where we see them, except like Ed said don't bother them.

Don't get me wrong I am always delighted to see Saw-whet owl. I just am discouraged I did not really capture the excitement of seeing the bird in my image.
