Ordered an iMac 24" - 3.06 on 12/30 and Fed EX delivered on 12/31. Just got tired of the PC crap. So far I love what I see but there is a bit of an adjustment on the switcheroo that I'm going thru....but like anything else - practice makes perfect.

Flauri, that's probably the best purchase you'll ever make! It takes about 1-2 weeks to get the hang of it.

Any doubts just use Apple's forums in http://apple.com/support or if you have a local Apple store they have cool lessons for less than $2 a week.

I've got a new MBP and a quad-core desktop PC here, and anyone who tells you that one runs better than the other doesn't know what they're doing.

When both are new I don't think there's a major difference between the two... but no matter what I would do with my pc, it would just attract spyware, junk and crap and eventually it would bog down.. in all aspects of usability. The Mac just doesn't have those issues and I've never had it crash out of a photo, EVER. I switched 4 years ago and I've never looked back.

Mac fanboys are about as annoying as camera brand fanboys. In the end, who really cares?

Computer illiterate people are better off with macs because they are generally more idiot proof. For computer saavy people, PCs give you more flexibility in a number of ways.

p.1 #10 · MAC or PC

Now if only buying a computer was all about looking cool while doing post production, then every photographer would by a Mac.

Hate to rain on the Mac parade, but a 2.5 gig intel core two duo runs at the speed it runs.

Mac is cool, and I have an i-pod myself, but when you can buy a PC version of a mbp for $1,300 less, then I am not sold especially because it can't do anything that a PC can do except start up faster.

Been using a PC every since I started shooting and have never had it crash, get a virus or have any real problems.

Mac is a state of mind like the video says, meaning that Apple has produced a great marketing campaign that has made people think that the product is superior, but in reality it is really is just all made by one company and that why it functions so well. If you know what to have and what NOT to have on a PC, it does the exact same thing.

It is like people that dog photographers for using Nikon instead of Canon, they both produce excellent products that get the job done. I actually had a good friend send me an email after coming by my office and seeing my PC, that said I need to by a Mac so I could "see the light" and "at this level, you need a Mac." That was really offensive that Mac's marketing campaign is SO strong that my friend thinks that I am not as good as him because I use a PC.

Mac is cool, their products are cool, and they get the job done. If you want to look cool you will have to spend more money and to some people that is important.

No one can tell me that the Lord of the Rings, the Matrix and Mclellanstudio.com are not cool, can they? All were designed and Photoshopped on a PC.

Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration... compare how well a 2.5GHz Core2 processor with 512MB ram runs Vista compared to Leopard! And there are a few possible advantages to using Mac, such as Aperture. I do agree that some people get a bit too defensive about their particular brand of computer though.

The difference is not just in hardware...actually, that is where I would say the least amount of difference is.

Double stuff Oreos are the best...!! Unless of course you have some Snackwells handy...then its a tie.

I put myself in the computer user category... I get paid to do other things, so when it pays to tinker I'll explore whatever super duper thing of the day there is.

Can only give you my personal limited experience with Macs. Longtime PC guy who shoots sports. Bought a used G4 a couple years ago. At no charge to me Mac shipped me a new battery on a recall. After upgrading to a MacBook pro I needed to sell the G4. Today I went to the Genius Bar at the Brea Mac store. Mathew behind the counter ordered me another new battery at no charge as well as gave me a new plug for the power supply.

I have had zero OS problems in 2 years of opening emails and plenty of net surfing.

Just my $.02

Photographers market perception.......................

prior to becoming a photographer I was - and still am a bit - a systems and network engineer for ISP's in Australia. I've used nearly every computer made in the last 20 years.

I do most of my work now on a Macpro tower Believe me, I'm not doing it to "look cool" and it's not a "state of mind". My workflow is so efficient on this box with my wedding photos and all the related services I provide it is a big reason why I'm doing so many weddings per year and coping easily.

If only we could have a good workflow on the PC, but alas, that remains only in the province of the Mac (rolls eyes).
