Finally, I had a day off from work yesterday--and there was actually some sun. I stopped at a local haunt--and low and behold the goldeneyes have come back. They were pretty skittish, and did not come in close to shore--so these images are substantial crops.
I was pleased with the 50D--appreciating the extra pixels and the higher crop factor.

There have been reports of one here in town >> I've been gonna break out the Yak and see
If I could get some close ups with the 600 from the yak. Just haven't made it out yet.

Ant
Thanks! Ant!
I would love to get on the water with these guys--getting a good mating display is one of my goals.
Tough to do from land, as you cannot control the light.
Sometimes these come in quite close, so now that I know where they are. I'll keep trying!
Hey Bonnie, hi hi hi and Happy New Year!!! These are neat, great to see both sexes together too in that last shot. #1 is my fave.
That Ant, his enthusiasm knows no bounds. But, Ant, can you count to SIX Here, I'll help you learn: 1, 2, 3, 4 (that's four, NOT six!), 5, 6. (Yep, THEN - six!) Pretty simple little bro, isn't it??!!
Ah, those boys will never learn.
Hugs,
Susan

Is that how that goes Iowa Educational system fails again
Congratulations Bonnie, very cool series here.
Love the mating displays you've captured, hopefully you'll get many more opportunities now that you know which club they hang out at.
2 and 6 are just beautiful, great low angle on all of these too.
Great job on these Bonnie! It's great that you captured some of neck business going on, fun to watch. Nice to see they came back. I have seen them on the sound but not on the lakes over here yet You lucky dog, getting out yesterday! I did get down to Golden Gardens for the sunset, the brants are back there again feeding real close in. (FYI)

Hi Susan!
Happy New Year to you!
Thanks for checking my ducks out. I haven't even takenb a shot in over a month, but I was happy to finally get out--even if they were at quite a distance.

Very well done.

Thanks, Kirk!
I sure hope I get a few more chances at them. I have very limited time--so catching the tide, light and their behavior happening all at once is a feat.
