Scrolling through old pictures, found this one from a trip in '04 with my Dad. Actually shot with film, scanned to a CD, and sat on my hard drive until now. Spent some time in PP, had to cover up the totally blown highlight from the sun upper middle with cloning, and I'd like critique on how successfully or unsuccessfully I did it. The clouds and fog were sweeping in as we climbed to the top of Mt. Vesuvius, bringing drizzle and bitter cold and wind.
Very pretty image... I love the drama.
On the post-process... it looks as if you have a bit of a halo on the left where the land meets the water... too much usm or shadow work?
Bruce, it was probably a little careless use of the brush when attempting to bring out some detail in the foreground. Thank you for catch - I overlooked it and will have to correct it.
Love it! You did a great job of cloning the clouds in, it looks totally natural. There are some wonderful lines in the clouds and I like the light reflecting off the water, this is a great one to pull out of the hard drive.

I think you did a super job here, super light and shadow contrasts, lovely lines leading the eye out. Maybe a bit more cleanup of the haloing along the left mountain side, but this is overall a very lovely image.
Any suggestions on how to actually FIX a halo after it's there, or do I really have to go back and re-do (assuming I can remember) everything?
Thank you for the compliments to all. It's still a rare occasion that I feel I have something that is worthy of putting up on the boards, so at least I'm picking the right ones.
