Duane, he's a fine looking bird. I'm not used to seeing photos of them at ground level, so it was interesting and I found the commentary somewhat amusing. I do agree, however, that the last image is a nice keeper. Thanks for sharing.

always see their tail feathers as they are flying away
Thanks for the replies. It seems the Sharpie is the favorite....here's a back view...mind you, overcast conditions so the sky suffered but when a Hawk lands in front of me it's fair game.
Thank Bruce, Anthony and Socrate. I was quite surprised to see this Hawk walking around..only the second time I've witnessed this. Definately out of it's element and you can tell because of the high stepping it was doing. I would expect this from a juvi but not an adult.....I guess the predator population is not a worry or they've been lucky thus far.
