I was on my way to the Ponds yesterday and found a Red-Tailed Hawk sitting on a light pole looking for some late lunch, so I thought I'd pull over and watch.
I used my car as a blind thinking it would fly away as I have found them shy around me.
After few of the same shots, I thought I'd step out and try to get some more, so I did and it still sat there giving me a funny look.
Long story short, I was able to get closer than I have ever experienced to a Red-Tailed Hawk.
The Look is a great shot, looks like maybe he/she thought that might scare you away Wow, how cool is #3 that is sweet and you have great sharpness on these. Maybe you have one of those approachable ones, rare but available.
Wow DeeDee, you must've been putting out the right vibe...
Great sequence here, very well done, super sharp detail...
My fave is #3... were you baiting him with a Big Mac? Just kidding of course, I love this shot.
Thank you Karl. I was glad it didn't attack me and I didn't scare it away.
Thanks Tim F. Attitude is good in a pic.
Thank you Tim G.
Hi Kirk - I keep thinking about going to Pets 'r us and picking up a couple of rats. Nothing like a staged shot with a rat on a leash. haha I wouldn't really do it though!
Hi DeeDee. I had a similar encounter a month ago. Mine though was hiding behind cables and other junk. Yours look pretty, and you did a very good job capturing some great poses and sharp detail. 2 and 3 my favorites.

Second and third are wonderful studies of grace and balance. There's something similar in the launch to the way a great tennis player serves! And the shape in the third shot is fantastic! The eyes are full of calculation, appraisal, and business!
