No legacy equipment for me ... when I get something new, I sell, give away or throw away the old camera. I do keep a token Canon 50mm f/1.8 mark I as a representative keepsake for all the old gear I don't own any more.
Exakta VX IIa (German made) with a Carl Zeiss-Jena 50mm lens
Two Canon AE-1P bodies and a couple of 50mm FD lenses
Canon Elan I body
Two Mamiya RZ67 bodies and a suite of lenses.
I guess I can put the Canons on eBay to get something out of them.
Same for the Mamiyas, now that the 5D2 can do all they could do (except awe clients).
Well yes, a 20D that I purchased new for a lot of bucks when it was the current prosumer camera. Now what is it worth? $250 used? Even if I don't use it a lot anymore I'd rather keep it.

Ah, now we're talking!
I wanted an Exacta for my first camera, and saved up the $79 for a VX 1000 with f/2. My parents talked me into
getting a Kowa SE instead, because a neighborhood wholesaler got a good price and said it would be easier for a beginner.
The Kowa was fun for a while, but died and wasn't worth repairing. I saved until I could get a Miranda Sensorex, which I still have.
Nostalgia lives on.
But in the realm of pro gear, it began with the Canon A1, and when I moved to the EOS system, I sold all the FD stuff.
If you're a paid photographer, you should always have a back-up body. Preferably the same format, but if you have a wide array of good lenses, then you should be fine with a smaller sensor.
I chose the 10D (which I have used in the last year or so), but I also have a Nikon FE (bought new in 1983) and an FM2n (bought new in 1988 or so). I don't know where these are at the moment, but I know I have them somewhere.....

I have a 30D that doesn't see much use, but now that it would only fetch
around $400, I'm keeping it as a backup body. One day maybe I'll sell it to a
relative for a great price.
My plan now is it keep it in the car most of the time with the Tamron 17-50/2.8 that
I'd also not get much for if I sold it. [It has a minor scratch on the front element,
which makes buyers afraid. It's sharp though.]

I've still got my 300D, And my EOS 33, And EOS 1000fn. I haven't shot any film since getting my 5DMkII, And I doubt I will shoot film again, But I might at some point, So I will keep the film cameras.

I've been shooting more film lately, true story!
I have 2 Nikon FM2Ns which will go to the grave with me.
A Canon EOS 1N, per above comment.
And lastly, a Mamiya 6 (90's version) that is loads of fun but spotty on occasion because of the way I use it (metering situations, focussing situations, etc.) It usually travels with a Sekonic light meter and a cheap Velbon tripod.

I have a 10D I keep as a backup body. I really only use it about once every 2 months, and even that is very sparingly. I have it solely as a backup body. If my 30D were to die, or has to go in for service, I don't want to be without a camera for a few weeks. Also, I do a couple paid shoots every year, and I won't be without two camera bodies on a paid gig....if one fails I need to be able to pick right up where I left off.

For me the monetary value is too low for me to contemplate selling anything. That does not mean I won't 'trade-in' my 1DMKIII [gladly] for the IV and keep my 350D/1D/1DMKIIN/5D
If I were to trade the 5D for a 5D2 I might do that ~ but new batteries and a new grip is too much of a pain

I bought a Canon TX from KEH that i have never used. I picked it for $55.00 mostly for nostagic reasons. Nice little cam, and the light meter works. Also looks nice on the bookshelf.

Hi,
Mostly due to space constraints, I tend to get rid of gear I'm no longer using/probably
won't use again, but that said, I've still got:
-Bronica GS-1 outfit
-Nikon FE somebody gave me (though I do use the 35mm F/1.4 that came with it :-) )
-Nikon manual 135 f/2.8 (I use it as a body cap on the FE above :-) ).
-Canon Eos Rebel T2
-Canon 24-70L (haven't used in a year at least, but its a Really Sharp copy I was hanging on to in case I go to FF).
-A bunch of pentax and soligor M42 lenses I now keep around as props...
-A box of various hot lights (haven't touched 'em since I got studio flashes - I keep thinking of them as "spares", but realistically I'd probably use a bunch of speedlights before I'd touch them again, so...)

Nikon F2AS I bought when I was in high school, working for a local newspaper and doing some wedding and trade publication work on the side. I've kept it for the same reason I still have a hub cap from by '64 Plymouth Valiant.
