Wonderful capture on many different levels. I may be reading too much into this image, but . . . were you trying for imagery that encompassed conflicting dualities that meld to form a unified whole, a sort of Taoist gestalt? The light and dark, the linear character of the brickwork up against the circular flow of the gatewaysw, even the (man-made) concrete contrasted with the organic plants encroaching the edges . . .smooth vs. rough . . .

. . . this shot really works for me. I'm curious about the technical side of things: is this an HDR composite? I have a hunch you expended some serious effort to avoid clipping any of the highlights, and thereby managed to capture the texture of the brick and associated masonry. Niiice job!

I can see why this spot attracted your eye and camera.

Very interesting image because of the forms shown.

Nice sense of 'depth' too.
