One of the best shots I have seen in a long time with the face so close. Her eye pop out and very cute. Awesome job

I've seen your work, and I know you're a much better photographer than I'll ever be. That said, I do not like the recent shots of her and the processing used. Technically everything is there, but the processing just isn't doing it for me. Beautifully sharp eyes, but the cross processed look for the rest just takes away from it for me.

I read this again, and I know it sounds harsh. Please don't think that. I know you're excellent at what you do, just this type of processing is something I've not liked as a personal thing. It's like not liking a red car. Doesn't mean it's bad, just a personal taste.

thanks a lot everyone! dpt510, the lighting was a single strobe using bounce from a white umbrella. it was fairly close to her face. no tube

What lens were you using? Unlike RL, I enjoy this sort of cross processed look, albeit a little less red. Great shot!

thanks! it was the trusty 85 1.2 ii. the only two lenses i use now that i have them are that and the 35 1.4 (with the exception of landscapes which i dont do enough)

i definitely dig it sean. i would be interested in seeing a version with the red highlight curve pulled down a bit and maybe the overall highlight tone curve pulled down a bit.

good pose and good composition!

Nice shot, although the blurred hair in the front and blurred neck give her a bit of floating-head syndrome. I'd like to see a leeetle bit more DOF.

thanks folks! canerino, i may tweak the colors a bit and see what happens. i see what you mean about the floating head, jfinite. its probably in part from burning the edges, too

sean this is stunning! It has a scanned slide look to it. care to go over your PP a bit?

thanks rian! im a little flatterred youre asking me how i did the PP ha ha. anyways, nothing too crazy i just had to do some tedious cloning with some parts of the hair the took on a funny color at somepoint during post. this is basically what i recall doing:

-duplicate layer with gaussian blur around 15 pixels- soft light
-used TRA pro-retouch for skin and eyes
-major curves tweak on all the color channels
-think i ran two TRA pool party actions but masked out the face maybe around 75% opacity
-TRA burn-out
-sharpened with a high pass filter vivid light and some unsharp mask around 1 pixel each

no prob sir. i find that on most stuff it normally looks like crap but sometimes it works with close up shots of the ladies. definitely requires some curves or desat because it turns the skin tones quite orange
