p.1 #1 · 220EX

All,

Anyone ever mess with some sort of diffuser for the Canon 220EX flash? I've been playing around with the 220EX and I really think it's quite powerful enough given our typical flash-to-subject distances...however, there's no off-the-shelf diffuser for it.

Anyone ever diffuse the little guy? It sure makes my macro rig much more a pleasure to use than the 550EX hanging out in space.

Just FYI I ended up selling and buying new flashes, I let the 500EX and 220EX go and picked up a 580EXI and 430EXI over on B&S. The 430EX will end up being used on the macro bracket...not as light as the 220EX but a little lighter than the 550EX anyway.

I have never used a diffuser on this flash. It has its advantages because of the size but is limited. I am likely going to sell mine because i never use it

It certainly has the power given the typically less than 3' distance to subject we have but you'd think Canon might have made it a TAD easier to attach something. The 430EX can also be a slave to the 580EX so there are other good reasons to have sold the 220EX. Might find a use for the wireless functions sometime in the future.
