Tonight I ordered a Canon 18-200 IS from B&H. I know this lens hasn't gotten the best reviews but from the shots I have seen it looks very good actually looking better than I was expecting after reading the reviews. I have also had a person sending me some shots with his and they are fantastic. I wanted to buy this lens for a walk around. I am wondering what the other owners are thinking about the lens and if you could show me some samples.
I am watching this thread with interest. I am looking for a "uberzoom" for walkabout when I don't wanna take it all.
Looking at this and the Tamron 18-270.
Price is about the same, Tammy has VC and more range.
Hmmmm

Yes I was looking at the tam also but from what I hear it's not all that great at 270 anyhow. Actually B&H has the Canon for $499 now during the rebates and it has IS
Those are not my shots. Credits go to the people who do own this lens and post their images to this group. I am quite impressed too. But I still enjoy my Sigma 18-200 (non OS) too

Gotcha I have talked to a couple people with the Sigma nd they liked it but i am sure I will be happy with the Canon
I got a 50D and 18-200 lens kit as an early Christmas present ... and the next 10 of 'em!
I have a 17-85 and 55-250 that cover that range ... so nice not to have to switch lens ... although I've read (and agree) that the "200" tele end seems a bit short of that. A number of pictures on my Christmas Blog have been shot with the 18-200 ... including these two! ;-)

I believe the new Sigma has OS and HSM with FTM. It also seems to test a bit better in the reviews I have read. If you don't mind Sigma.
I have never really had great luck with the Sig lenses
Let's be more specific !!
After comparing the following Test Charts I get that Sigma is a better choice
becuase at 18mm it is better and the whole idea here is Wide Zoom.

Can both sigma and Canon Owners post 18mm Samples?
Whole idea here is wide what makes you think that? Also I have never seen Pop ever give Sigma a bad review after all they do pay a ton of money to pushn their lenses in Pop. Furthermore not all people like sig lenes. I have bought many over the years and only liked a couple of them I am not going to chance it this time, my other choice would be the tamera
